AIFS Study Abroad Scholarships

AIFS annually awards more than $250,000 in scholarships to summer and semester students who submit application materials demonstrating high academic achievement. Scholarships are available for both summer and semester programs.

AIFS International Scholarships

Each semester AIFS offers 40 scholarships of $1,000 to students who demonstrate high academic achievement and write an essay addressing “How study abroad will impact my academic and personal growth.”

To be considered, you must submit the AIFS scholarship application, the program application, the required application fee of $95, official transcripts of all college records to date and an academic reference.

Completed scholarship and program applications must be postmarked by April 15 for Academic Year/Fall Quarter/Fall Semester or October 1 for Spring Quarter/Spring Semester. Students must meet the minimum requirements for the program to which they are applying, have at least a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA, show leadership potential and be involved in extracurricular activities centered on multicultural or international issues.

AIFS Diversity Scholarships

Two AIFS Diversity Scholarships for 50% of the program fee and round trip air fare are awarded, one per semester. Three runner-up AIFS Diversity Scholarships of $2,000 each are also awarded each semester.

To be considered for the AIFS Diversity Scholarship, applicants must submit the scholarship application materials in addition to the AIFS study abroad application and the required application fee of $95 by April 15 for Academic Year/Fall Quarter/Fall Semester or October 1 for Spring Quarter/Spring Semester. Study Again with AIFS Scholarships

If you studied abroad on an AIFS summer program, you will receive a $1000 scholarship to study abroad on an AIFS semester or academic year catalog program, or a $500 scholarship toward a summer catalog program.

If you studied abroad on an AIFS semester or academic year program, you will receive a $500 scholarship toward a summer catalog program or a $1000 scholarship toward a semester program in a different academic year.

Completed scholarship and program applications must be postmarked by April 15 for Academic Year/Fall Quarter/Fall Semester or October 1 for Spring Quarter/Spring Semester.

AIFS-HACU Scholarships

The purpose of the program is to provide up to $50,000 in scholarships for outstanding Hispanic students to study abroad with AIFS. This special scholarship will be available to students attending HACU member schools. To find out more about HACU, visit www.hacu.net .

Scholarship winners can study for a semester (Fall or Spring) on any AIFS program.

Awards/Eligibility: Students will receive scholarships of up to 50% of the full program fee. Students must meet all standard AIFS eligibility requirements.

Awards will be made by AIFS in conjunction with its Advisory Board.

Completed scholarship and program applications must be postmarked by April 15 for Academic Year/Fall Quarter/Fall Semester or October 1 for Spring Quarter/Spring Semester.

Students may use an AIFS International Scholarship application form and write "HACU Scholarship Program" at the top of the form. For further details, call (800) 727-2437.

Gilman Scholarship Bonus – $500 scholarships

AIFS will award an additional $500 to each student who receives a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship and uses it toward an AIFS semester or academic year catalog program. More information about Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships is available at www.iie.org/gilman.

 

Affiliate Scholarships

Students from colleges and universities that participate in the AIFS Affiliates program may be eligible for a special Affiliate scholarship. To find out if your institution is an AIFS affiliate, contact your study abroad advisor.

Study Again with AIFS Scholarship

DiversityAbroad.com Scholarship – sponsored by AIFS

DiversityAbroad.com, in cooperation with AIFS, will offer five, $2,000 scholarships for summer 2008 study abroad.  Scholarships are available for students studying abroad in the summer 2008 on any program offered by a DiversityAbroad.com member organization.
