Given the delays occuring at the State Department, AIFS urges all students studying abroad this spring to apply for or renew their passports as soon as possible to avoid delays and complications. AIFS Australia Offers Internship and Work/Travel Opportunities Down Under
If you have finished school or are looking to take a temporary hiatus, AIFS Australia can connect you with non-credit Internship or Work/Travel opportunities down under.
Several program options are available:
- Professional Internship Australia – AIFS provides acomplete program package from placing you with an Australian company to arranging your visa for up to one year
- Independent Internship Australia – AIFS provides you with the opportunity to complete a paid or unpaid Internship with the company of your choice
- Work And Travel – AIFS Work and Travel Program is designed to support you throughout your stay in Australia and help you in finding backpacking jobs
These opportunities are open to students and recent graduates between the ages of 18 and 30 from all over the world, but Australian companies are very eager to hire Americans. AIFS Australia has placed participants in some of the biggest companies in Australia, with the length of most internships ranging from 6 to 24 weeks.
NOTE: These options are not available to students on the AIFS Study Abroad Semester at Macquarie University. Macquarie offers its own internship program which is open to AIFS students for academic credit.

AIFS Programs
AIFS Inc includes other programs for cultural exchange as well. The Au Pair in America program enables American families to host international young people, who assist with childcare and share their culture. High school students from many countries study and live with American host families in the U.S. with Academic Year in America, one of the nation’s most respected high school exchange programs. AIFS offers study/travel programs for high school students through the Summer Advantage program. AIFS programs provide the highest quality educational experience. The Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) offers three-week summer residential and day programs on college campuses for academically talented students in grades K through 11. Camp America and Resort America bring young international visitors to the U.S. to serve as camp counselors and support staff during the summer.
