New Diversity Summer Study Abroad Scholarship

STAMFORD, CT — DiversityAbroad.com and AIFS announce the creation of the DiversityAbroad.com Summer Scholarship sponsored by the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS), offering $10,000 in scholarships to deserving, under-represented students.

The scholarships are being given to students who meet the criteria and are to be used for studying abroad in the summer of 2008. Five scholarships of $2,000 each may be used toward any of the study abroad programs offered by Diversity Abroad sponsors.

Diversity Abroad was founded to ensure that minority and other under-represented students are aware of and have access to international study and exchange opportunities. Through the comprehensive web portal DiversityAbroad.com, students have access to the information and tools they need to go abroad. The DiversityAbroad.com Summer Scholarships sponsored by AIFS will bring the important objective of increasing international opportunities for traditionally under-represented students together with two leading organizations in cultural exchange.

“Unfortunately, lack of financial resources continues to be one of the leading factors that precludes more minority students from going abroad.” Says Andrew Gordon, founder of Diversity Abroad. “The Summer Scholarship will help us to both make study abroad a reality for several students and raise awareness about the benefits and opportunities afforded through study abroad.”
