Conference helps schools, parents motivate
gifted students
Fairfield, CT — Are you a school administrator,
educator or parent who would like to learn more about motivating
gifted students and developing the maximum potential of young
people while keeping current with the latest educational programs?
Dr. Susanne Richert, President of the Global Institute for Maximizing
Potential, addresses these topics and more Friday, March 8, 2002
at the Gifted Education Conference, held at Fairfield University.
Dr. Richert's Keynote address, "Maximizing
Emotional and Ethical, as well as Intellectual, Potential,"
discusses ways to ensure that academic programs foster emotional
health and ethical motivation so that gifted potential will benefit
our culture-as well as the students. Dr. Richert believes education
for the gifted should go beyond extrinsically defined excellence.
"The highest levels of emotional and ethical
potential, as universally defined in diverse cultures, should
be the aims of education of the gifted, not just academic or financial
success," she said.
The Gifted Education Conference also features six
breakout sessions including: "Maximizing Wise Thinking in
Middle-School Students" by PACE Center at Yale University;
"Overcoming Patterns of Emotional and Ethical Underachievement"
by E. Susanne Richert, Ph.D., Director, Global Institute for Maximizing
Potential; and "Problem Based Learning: A Solution for Lack
of Funding, Multiple Ability Levels and Standards" by Barbara
Swicord, Executive Director, The Summer Institute For The Gifted.
The cost to attend is $90 and includes materials,
a continental breakfast and buffet lunch. The conference runs
from 8:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. The Gifted Education Conference is
sponsored by the Summer Institute For The Gifted (SIG), a New
Jersey-based company offering summer courses to academically gifted
