Educational and Cultural Exchange
Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG)
for students aged 4 to 17
SIG is a three-week academic, recreational and social summer
program for gifted and talented students ages 4
though 17. Each year, nearly 2,000 gifted students, including
hundreds of international students, attend SIG at one
of our many prestigious university campuses across the US,
including Dartmouth, Princeton, UC Berkeley and Yale.

Academic Year in America (AYA)
for students aged 15 to 18
The American Institute For Foreign Study Foundation is
the proud sponsor of our high school exchange program,
Academic Year in America (AYA). Recognized as a leader in
the field of student exchange, AYA annually brings nearly
1,000 high school students from over 35 countries to live
with American families and attend local high schools under
this J-1 Visa program. AYA also administrates two prestigious
US Department of State exchange programs: Future
Leaders Exchange (FLEX) and Youth Exchange and Study
(YES).

University Prep
for students aged 15 to 18 who plan to attend university in
the U.S.
High school sophomores and juniors interested in taking
the SAT and attending university in the US spend 3 weeks
at Amherst College learning the ins and
outs of the US admissions process. Students take courses
in SAT prep that are designed to raise scores significantly,
practice admissions strategies, and visit some of America's
top universities in New England and California.

AIFS Study Abroad
for university students who wish to study abroad for a
semester or summer
AIFS annually organizes study abroad programs for more
than 5,000 American students during the academic year
and the summer. All courses are for academic credit. AIFS
works closely with 500 American universities and providing
students with high quality study abroad programs in
18 countries: Australia, Austria, Botswana, Brazil, Costa Rica,
Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland,
Italy, New Zealand, Peru, Russia, South Africa, Spain, and Turkey.
International students participating in these programs
must have strong English language skills.

The American Council for International Studies (ACIS)
based in Boston arranges educational travel programs for
some 15,000 high school students and teachers. Programs

Work Abroad and Cultural Exchange Programs
Camp America and Resort America
summer work abroad programs for young adults aged 18+
Camp America and Resort America staff are international
visitors who travel to the United States on the J-1 Visitor
Exchange visa. Each year, more than 6,000 foreign students
and young people take seasonal jobs as camp counselors
and support staff in U.S. summer camps and resorts.

Au Pair in America
child care and cultural exchange program for young
women aged 18-26
Au Pair in America brings over 4,000 young people into
the United States each year, for child care and cultural
exchange. Au Pair in America (APIA) was the first legal
J-1 visitor exchange au pair program, designated by the
U.S. Government in 1986, and is recognized as the highest
quality opportunity of its kind for both hosting families and
participating au pairs.
