90 PERCENT SATISFACTION RATE FOR AU PAIR IN AMERICA
Parents Select Au Pairs for Cost-Saving Child Care
STAMFORD, CT – Au Pair in America, the nation's largest provider of live-in child care, released its 2008 survey results, revealing more than a 90 percent satisfaction rate for its host families.
The three main reasons cited were Au Pair in America's affordability, customer service and cultural exchange experience for their children. While of note, these factors have long been attributed to Au Pair in America since it pioneered the legal au pair market in the United States more than 20 years ago. In addition, the survey found 94 percent of Au Pair in America families would recommend the program to a friend.
"Au Pair in America customers are part of our extended family, and our goal is to provide them with the very best in child care," said Ruth Ferry, senior vice president and director of Au Pair in America. "Our program is an all-encompassing child care and cultural experience that is extremely affordable compared to most forms of care. We are very proud to once again receive such a great response from our families."
The survey also revealed that prior to joining Au Pair in America, 37 percent of host families had used a nanny and 25 percent had used daycare. These numbers support a trend that families are turning to the most cost effective child care option: au pairs.
"Having an au pair gives our three children the most consistent care at the best price," said Suzy Cooke, a host mother from Washington, D.C. Cooke and her family have been with Au Pair in America since 2005, and their current au pair, Katherine, is from Germany. "We have all benefited from the cultural exchange in ways we didn't originally anticipate. Experiencing how people from other countries interact with us and our friends and relatives, makes us more welcoming, sharing, patient, tolerant and loving as a family. Having au pairs care for our children has been a great experience for all of us."
The survey of 1035 respondents was administered online over a two-month period between January and February by QuestBack, a leading provider of online survey services based in Oslo, Norway. Au Pair in America sends out the 10-question survey to host families each year. This year's satisfaction rates were the same as last year's rates.
"These survey results show how consistent we are in delivering quality au pairs and support services to host families around the country," concluded Ferry.
The nation's first and largest au pair program, Au Pair in America offers live-in child care that includes a legal J-1 visa, screening, medical and liability insurance, flight arrangements, four-day orientation including Red Cross child safety training and 24/7 local support.
Since 1986, Au Pair in America has placed more than 80,000 au pairs in 40 states. Headquartered in Stamford, Conn., Au Pair in America maintains offices in Boston, San Francisco and Chicago, and in five countries. It has a network of more than 600 representatives worldwide.
